Freshman Susan Wallace scored the first two goals of her career as the Falcons recorded a 5-1 win over the Crusaders. Wallace also had an assist in the match, as the BG frosh combined for three goals and four assists in the win.
BG broke on top with a pair of goals just 39 seconds apart. Junior Autumn Harris headed home a Beth Wechsler corner kick at the 14:40 mark, while freshman Jill Conover found the back of the net at 15:19. Freshman Melissa Galitz and sophomore Desiree Erb assisted on Conover's goal.
Wallace made the score 3-0 at the 25:42 mark, with Erb drawing her second assist of the day. Valpo's Lisa Springs scored with just 2:56 remaining in the first half. Springs knocked home a rebound of Lindsay Malecki's shot, which had hit the right post.
Junior Michelle Lisy and Wallace completed the scoring with goals 4:37 apart midway through the second stanza. Conover assisted on both goals -- her third and fourth helpers of the year -- with Wallace also assisting on Lisy's tally.
Freshman Erika Flanders made three saves to earn the win in goal. Sophomore Sarah Gawel played the last 14:10 and was not called upon to make a save. VU's Amy Cavanaugh went all the way in net, making eight stops. The Falcons outshot the visitors, 20-11, including a 13-4 edge in shots on goal.
