April 11, 2014 | Softball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—The Bowling Green State University Athletics Department has announced several promotions for the 2014 softball season. The promotions are a way for youth to get involved at Falcon softball games this season.
The first promotion will be for every Saturday home game at Meserve Field, where youth 13-and-under will have the chance to take the field with the Falcons for the National Anthem. Those wishing to participate are asked to arrive at Meserve Field 15 minutes prior to first pitch behind the third base dugout. In addition, following every Sunday home game during the 2014 season, youth 13-and-under will have the chance to run the bases at Meserve Field. Youth that want to participate in the promotion will be asked to line up behind the third base dugout directly after the game.
The Falcons are also pleased to announce a post-game catch with the Falcons, where kids in eighth grade or younger will have the chance to play catch with one of the members of the 2014 softball team. Youth wishing to participate will be required to have a legal guardian fill out a waiver, which can be found by CLICKING HERE. Participants can turn the waiver into the marketing table at Meserve Field during the game.
Bowling Green will also hold a "Pink Game" on Sunday, April 27 at Meserve Field when the Falcons play host to Eastern Michigan. Free Kroger rally towels will be handed out to all fans in attendance for the game.
The Orange and Brown will continue Mid-American Conference action this weekend (April 11-13), as the Falcons hit the pavement to take on Akron and Ohio over a three-day span away from Meserve Field. The Falcons (15-18-1) will begin their weekend with a doubleheader against the Zips (16-9, 2-2 MAC) on Friday at Lee R. Jackson Field in Akron, Ohio, which is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The Orange and Brown will then conclude the weekend with a two-day series against the Bobcats (19-17, 4-2 MAC) at the Ohio Softball Field in Athens, Ohio on Saturday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).
