Tennis Predicted to Finish Fifth in 2018 MAC Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Bowling Green women's tennis program has been voted by the league's coaches to finish tied for fifth in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll for the 2018 campaign. It is the highest selection for the Falcons in the Preseason Poll since 2014, and a 31-point improvement from its ninth place selection in 2016.
In just two years, head coach Stephanie Dalmacio has led a resurgence in the BGSU tennis program. After back-to-back winless MAC seasons in 2014 and 2015, Dalmacio took over the program and has quickly built it into a contender for a conference crown. She is aiming for continued growth in 2018, after Paula Comella was named 2017 All-MAC Second Team selection as a sophomore. A native of Ciutadella de Menorca, Spain, Comella had a 9-10 overall singles record, along with a 4-3 overall doubles record last season. Junior Polina Radeva, a native of Varna, Bulgaria, went 8-8 overall in singles and posted a 2-3 overall doubles record as a sophomore, while Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, a native of Lviv, Ukraine, finished with a 3-12 overall singles mark, along with a 4-3 doubles record in her freshman campaign. Sophomore Ayumi Sasaki, transfer Vanesa Pardo and freshmen Marta Bettinelli, Sidney Reineke and Theresa Wassmann round out the Falcons roster.
