
Personal Bests Fall As Falcons Soar Saturday

Huntington, W. Va. and Findlay, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University track and field team set no fewer than 19 personal best marks Saturday as the team competed at both the Thundering Herd Invitational, hosted by Marshall, and the Findlay Elite Throws.

THE THROWERS
- BG competed nine times in the two throws events at Findlay, setting seven personal bests.
- In the weight throw, Elizabeth Iversen set a new personal best and the third-best performance in school history, tossing 67-feet-9.5 (20.66m). That mark is second-best in the MAC this year and ranks among the top 15 in the country.
- Aliyah Gustafson also set a personal best in the weight throw with a distance of 65-4.25 (19.92m). She sits third in the MAC.
- Allie Farmer (61-4.25), Kaila Butler (60-3), Daija Young (53-8.5) and Zaresha Neal (51-3.75) also had new personal best in the weight throw. Farmer and Butler both rank among the top eight in the conference.
- In the shot put, Gustafson recorded the second-best performance in program history (behind her own outing a week ago) by throwing 55-5.5. Iversen moved up to No. 4 on the program's all-time leaderboard with a career-best throw of 51-1.75.
- Neal also had a PR in the shot put by throwing 45-5.25.
SPRINTING IT OUT
- Sophomores Peyton Lee and Chasatea Brown each set personal bests in the 60 twice, once in the prelims and again in the finals.
- Lee ran 7.79 seconds in the prelims and then finished third in the finals at 7.75 seconds.
- Brown ran 7.88 seconds in the prelims and improved to 7.87 in the finals. Dorresha Green also qualified for finals and was fifth in 7.80 seconds.
- Freshman Savannah Nevels nudged her 200 personal best forward with a time of 25.02 seconds to place second overall. Cortisha Short ran a season-best 25.23 in the event, while Brown (25.34) and Mis'cha Sellers (25.79) both set career-bests.
- Three Falcons PR'ed in the 400, led by Hailey Mayes with a ninth-place finish in 58.57 seconds. Rickia White (59.59) and Paige Geatz (60.87) also improved upon their all-time fastest finishes.
DISTANCING THE COMPETITION
- Junior Rachel Walny made her 2018 debut and won the 3,000 in 9:49.85. Senior Elena Lancioni set a new personal best in the distance at 10:10.52.
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
- The 1600 relay team of Chasatea Brown, Rachel Stute, Brianna Tidmore and Hailey Mayes was fourth overall with a time of 3:54.89. That is almost three seconds faster than the team's next-fastest time in the event this year.
THE JUMPING OFF POINT
- Sophomore Stacey Wolverton flew to a new career-best in the high jump. She leaped 5-feet-4.5 (1.64m) to improve upon a previous best of 1.61m.

UP NEXT
- BGSU is scheduled to split the squad again during the upcoming weekend.
- The Falcons will compete at both the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, and the Akron Invitational Friday and Saturday.
