March 13, 2018 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – All fans, students, and community members are invited to join the Bowling Green State University Athletics Department at the Sebo Athletic Center, located on the north end of Doyt Perry Stadium, at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 as we wish Talisa Lemke good luck and send her off to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. Lemke will represent BGSU in Columbus, Ohio when she competes in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. One-meter diving is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, while three-meter diving begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16.
Lemke earned her spot at the national championship meet last week by placing fifth (one-meter) and ninth (three-meter) at the 2018 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, which were also held in Columbus. Three weeks ago, she won the Mid-American Conference championship in one-meter diving and finished second in the three-meter. She became BGSU's first MAC diving champion since Angie Gillett in 1992 and the first in one-meter diving since Mary Pfeiffer in 1988. Her efforts helped the Falcons place fifth at the MACs and improve one spot in the team standings over the previous season.
As sophomore from Berlin, Germany, Lemke followed up her MAC Freshman Diver of the Year season by being named first-team All-MAC and MAC Co-Diver of the Year. She owns school records in both events, originally setting those marks as a freshman. During the 2017-18 season, she broke her own records on multiple occasions, including an incredible six times on the one-meter boards.
Lemke is the second member of the BGSU Swimming and Diving program to reach the NCAA Championships in the last three seasons. Two years ago, Daniela Carrillo qualified in breaststroke swimming. However, Lemke is the Falcons' first diver at nationals since Pfeiffer in 1988. This year's championship meet will be held from March 14-17 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University.
