East, Scott Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Jeff Scott and gymnast Jovannah East.
Male Athlete of the Week
Jeff Scott, a redshirt junior from Kirkland, Ind., had a strong week at the plate in Bowling Green's three-game series at Michigan over the weekend. Scott, who had at least one hit in every game, went 5-for-13 (.384) with two RBI and one run. In the series opener, Scott went 2-for-5 with two RBI. The catcher/outfielder gave BGSU a 6-0 lead with a two-run double. In the Saturday and Sunday contests, Scott registered one hit apiece, while also scoring a run in the series finale.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jovannah East, a sophomore from Zion, Ill., had the best individual meet of her two-year career and led BGSU to a victory over Northern Illinois Saturday. East won two events and the all-around competition, tying her personal best in a victory on floor (9.925). She also set a new personal record in the all-around, earning the third-best total in BGSU history (39.425). East won the vault outright with a 9.875. In addition, she finished third (9.875) on beam and recorded a 9.750 on bars. Her efforts helped BGSU tie season-best team scores on vault (48.950) and beam (49.225) and set new season standards on bars (48.950) and floor (49.325). Her all-around score of 39.425 is the highest of the week in the MAC.
