Falcons, Kroger Team Up To Aid NW Ohio Food Bank
March 21, 2018 | Football
TOLEDO, Ohio - Members of the Bowling Green State University football team, along with the University of Toledo, were on hand to present a check to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank as part the Kroger "Sacks For Cash" program, a campaign to help fight hunger in our community. Football coach Mike Jinks and Falcon student-athletes David Konowalski and Marcus Milton were on hand for the presentation. CEO and President of the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, James Caldwell, also spoke and thanked both Bowling Green and Toledo for their support. Kroger was represented by Corporate Affairs Manager Amy McCormick and District Director of Operations Dan Galway.
For each sack during past seasons, Kroger traditionally donated $25 per quarterback sack recorded by Bowling Green State University and UT. This year, however, they upped the ante to a $50 donation per sack. The Falcons, who had 15 during the 2017 regular season, earned $750 to the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank. Since 2011, when the Sacks for Cash program began, Kroger has donated a total of $9,800 to the food bank, the equivalent of over 34,000 meals.
