Gustafson Receives Sixth Year Of Eligibility From NCAA

Bowling Green, Ohio – Three-time All-American shot putter Aliyah Gustafson will return to Bowling Green for the 2019 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons after receiving a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. Gustafson is a three-time MAC Champion in the shot put, advancing to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships twice and the Indoor National Championships once.
A two-time second team All-American, as well as an honorable mention All-American, Gustafson won the MAC Championship in the shot put during the indoor and outdoor season in 2018. She most recently competed at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships, finishing 16th. She was fifth among collegiate competitors.
After redshirting as a true freshman in 2014, Gustafson tore her ACL just two meets into the 2015 indoor season. She returned to competition and promptly won the 2016 MAC Outdoor Championship in the shot put before sweeping both the indoor and outdoor campaigns again in 2018. Gustafson advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in 2016 and placed 24th.
Gustafson finished 10th at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in 2018 before placing 15th at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships earlier this month.
An excellent athlete in competition, Gustafson is just as strong in the classroom. She maintains a 4.0 grade point average as a master's student in kinesiology and earned her undergraduate degree with a 3.93 GPA in exercise science.
