Student-Athlete Services
Priority Registration
Student-athletes receive priority registration to allow them to fit their academic requirements around their practice and competition schedule.
Academic Training Tables
Mentors are assigned to student-athletes in order to help these individuals gain the understanding and importance of time management between the classroom and the playing field. While teaching skills such as these, mentors also assist in tracking the student-athlete's progress through their semester course work.
Study Table
All new student-athletes or any returning student-athlete with a grade point average below 2.5 are required to attend structured study sessions. In addition to study time, this gives student-athletes the opportunity to meet with tutors for specific subjects.
Advising
Advisors within the Office of Student-Athlete Services work closely with each student's faculty and college advisors to provide complete and accurate assistance with course scheduling and academic planning.
Tutoring
Tutors are available to student-athletes on an as-need basis.
Book Loan Program
Student-athletes on book scholarships receive required books on loan each semester.
Student-Athlete "E-Community"
All student-athletes are enrolled in an on line electronic bulletin board through the MyBGSU web portal. This provides student-athletes with up to the minute announcements of interest or importance to student-athletes.
UNIV 100
During the fall semester, SAS staff members teach sections of this one-credit course for incoming freshman student-athletes. The focus of this course is to help new student-athletes adjust to college life and establish skills that will help them be successful at BGSU, in and out of the classroom.
Travel Notification
Student-athletes are provided with a letter each term that indicates dates of away events. Travel letters are given to professors during the first week of classes. Additionally, student-athletes notify professors well in advance of conflicts with exams or other occurrences that may cause student-athletes to miss class.
