Three Falcons Named to MAC Report Online Preseason Team

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The MAC Report Online has just released their 2008 Preseason Football Teams, with three members of the Bowling Green State University football team earning honors. Senior kicker Sinisa Vrvilo was the lone Falcon to earn first team honors, while senior Diyral Briggs and junior P.J. Mahone were named to the second team. Vrvilo was named to third team All-MAC last season after converting on 15 of 19 field goals and all 47 of his extra points. His 15 made field goals in a season rank fifth all-time in BGSU history while his 47 extra points were fourth in the school record books. He was also a perfect 9 of 9 on field goals under 40 yards. Briggs earned first team All-MAC honors last season after finishing with 54 tackles and five sacks. He also had 7.0 tackles for loss, second best on the team. Mahone was named to the second team All-MAC last season after finishing the season with 90 tackles and seven interceptions. He finished the season with 220 return yards on those seven interceptions, establishing a new school record. MAC Report Online is considered the top independent authority on MAC football and basketball and is often cited by print and broadcast media outlets covering the MAC.MAC Report Online Complete Release There was also an even distribution among this year's squads with each MAC school landing no fewer than three representatives on this year's preseason All-MAC teams, paced by Ball State which landed seven players on the all-conference first or second team followed by defending champion Central Michigan as well as Akron, Western Michigan and defending MAC East champion Miami which all placed five players on the preseason team. Heading up MAC Report Online's projected specialty awards are Central Michigan junior quarterback Dan LeFevour as its choice to repeat as the MAC's offensive player of the year and Northern Illinois defensive end Larry English is projected to finish the season as the MAC's top defensive player. MAC Report Online's 2007 preseason All-MAC team featured no fewer than twenty players that went on to earn first team All-MAC postseason honors with another 21 members of MAC Report Online's 2007 preseason squad earning either second or third team all-conference honors at the conclusion of the 2007 campaign. In addition to the 31 seniors on this year's preseason All-MAC teams, 16 juniors and five sophomores also earned recognition.
