Max Minnich earned three football letters, and basketball letter, and a track letter during his time in the orange and brown. After leaving for war, he came back to BG and focused strictly on football. As a junior, he was second on the team in rushing with 380 yards, while catching passes for another 224 yards. As a senior, Minnich scored six touchdowns, including a 73-yard punt return.
Minnich holds the single-game record for punts with 13, season passer rating, and season interception record with 12. In 1948 he was named team MVP, and All-Ohio in 1946 and 1948,
Minnich signed with the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL after his time as a Falcon, which put him as the first BGSU player to be drafted to an NFL team.
Max Minnich was inducted to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999.
