Wade Diefenthaler earned three letters (1957-59) as a Falcon baseball player, earning first team All-MAC as a junior. That year, Diefenthaler tossed a no-hitter against MAC champion Ohio University to hand the Bobcats their only league loss. He was the first pitcher to toss a no-hitter in a MAC contest. As a sophomore, Diefenthaler had a 3-5 record with a 2.90 ERA. As a senior, he improved his record to 6-2, with a 3.08 ERA to earn second team All-MAC accolades. In the 1959 season, Diefenthaler led the team in hitting with a batting average of .400.
After graduation, Diefenthaler began his teaching career in Toldeo Public schools for a total of 32 years.
Diefenthaler, a member of both the Varsity BG Club and Falcon Club, played 12 seasons of semi-pro baseball in the Federation League in Toledo.
Diefenthaler was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007
