William Bradshaw was a three-sport letterman at BGSU from 1952-55. He made NCAA history on the gridiron in 1953 and 1954, when he led the NCAA college division in punting for two consecutive seasons. He was the first player in NCAA history to repeat as a national punting champion. His career punting average of 42.2 yards for 126 kicks still stands as a BG and MAC record.

Alongside his other accomplishments, Bradshaw earned All-MAC Second Team honors during the 1953 season. During this season, Bradshaw had the most rushing yards on the team, with 236 yards, averaging 2.1 yards per carry, and finishing the season with 2 rushing touchdowns. Bradshaw also serving as a quarterback, averaged 19.0 yards per completion in his two seasons at the position, passing for 865 total yards in the 1954 season.

Along with his three letters in football, Bradshaw lettered three times in track and once in swimming. He competed in the pole vault and high jump and scored at the MAC Championship in the pole vault. Asked to join the swimming team for the start 1953-54 season, Bradshaw reported after football season and scored in three meets.

Bradshaw went on to play in the NFL for the Baltimore Colts (later renamed Indianapolis Colts) in 1954, until he was called to active duty. Bradshaw was recognized as a Glenn Sharp Award recipient in 2003, for his continued involvement as an alumni, and his demonstration of commitment and loyalty to BGSU Football.

William Bradshaw was inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987.
