Falcons Glide Into Season Opener at the Zippy Classic

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will open the 2022-23 season this weekend at Akron in the Zippy Classic. The meet will take place on October 7th and 8th in Ocasek Natatorium.
Falcons' Finish to 2022 Season
The Falcons finished 3-4 last season and 6th at MAC Championships. This was an improvement from a year prior when the Falcons finished 1-3 and 8th at MAC Championships during a COVID shortened 2020-21 season.
Featured Falcons
The Falcons are returning multiple top performers from last year's MAC Championships. Coming off of qualifying for NCAA Diving Zones and respectively a 4th place finish in the 3-Meter Dive and a 7th place finish in the 1-Meter Dive divers Rayah Blood and Grace Ellis look to have another strong season.
The Orange and Brown are also returning three-point scoring swimmers from 2022 MAC Championships. Senior Taylor Harris is coming off of a season that saw her win individually twice in the 100 Breaststroke and three more times in the 200 Breaststroke. Harris then added a 7th place finish at MAC Championships in the 200 Breaststroke, which included a swim off to get into the championship final.
Junior Ava Vial also looks to make a splash this season. Vial is coming off of a 5th place finish in the 400 IM at MAC Championships as well as five top 5 finishes in the 200 Butterfly over the course of the 2021-22 season. Vial also currently holds four of the fastest ten times in program history in the 200 Butterfly.
Sophomore Fabiana D'Ambrogio concluded the season on a high note. Before finishing 8th in the 200 Butterfly at MAC Championships D'Ambrogio secured a victory against Battle of I-75 foe Toledo in the 200 Butterfly. D'Ambrogio also holds two of the ten fastest times in program history in the 200 Butterfly.
