Falcons Return Home In Loss To Southern Indiana

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program hosted Southern Indiana at the Stroh Center on Saturday (Nov. 26) to end a four-game road trip. The Falcons and Screaming Eagles went to the half with just three points separating the two. However, the second half leaned to USI with Southern Indiana taking a 69-57 final score to move the Falcons to 2-4 on the season.
Chandler Turner paced the Falcons with just under 32 minutes played, registering a team-high 12 points and tying with Rashaun Agee for the team-lead in rebounds with seven. Sam Towns and Leon Ayers III each added 10 points to the BGSU effort while Kaden Metheny tallied nine points and a team-high five assists.

The Falcons will stay at home for their next two games, hosting Queens on Nov. 29 and Morgan State on Dec. 3. The Falcons will first face Queens, scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. The game will also be Video Game Night at the Stroh Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons and Screaming Eagles traded buckets early before Chandler Turner and Samari Curtis hit triples in back-to-back trips down the floor to create a 6-0 BGSU run and give Bowling Green a 13-8 lead going into the media timeout.
- Southern Indiana began to chip away at the Bowling Green lead before a 6-0 run pushed USI ahead 22-21 and forced a timeout from the Falcons' bench.
- A Brenton Mills triple moved BGSU back in front 24-22, but USI responded with a three of their own to go back up 25-24.
- Chandler Turner hit two from the free throw line to give the Falcons the lead 26-25, but another USI triple swung the score to the Screaming Eagles 28-26. A Gabe O'Neal hook shot tied it up at 28-28 before a 6-0 run for Southern Indiana pushed USI ahead 34-28.
- Southern Indiana maintained their lead through the end of the first half, taking a 37-34 lead into the locker room.
- In the second half, Southern Indiana started with an early 6-0 run to push their lead to 45-36 and prompt a BGSU timeout.
- The Falcons and Screaming Eagles resumed trading buckets before another BGSU timeout, this stoppage coming with a 57-45 score.
- The Falcons chipped away at the lead before the next stoppage with the score at 59-48 USI.
- Bowling Green began finding the paint with dunks from Sam Towns and Leon Ayers III on top of a Kaden Metheny fastbreak layup to bring the score to 65-55 at the next media break.
- Out of the timeout, the lead stretch to the 69-57 final for Southern Indiana.

- Bowling Green and Southern Indiana each logged 39 rebounds as a team in the game, marking just the ninth time during the Coach Huger Era that BGSU has finished with the same amount of rebounds as their opponent.
- The Falcons and Screaming Eagles also made the same amount of free throws (8), marking the 10th time in the Coach Huger Era that BGSU has finished with the same amount of free throws made as their opponent.
