A Bowling Green Win Would…Â
What Needs To Happen For A Trip To ClevelandÂ
The Falcons are still fighting for a spot in the MAC Championship, sitting at 4-12 behind a trio of teams at 5-11. For Bowling Green, a win is needed on Tuesday over EMU to stay in the hunt for a tournament spot. For the MAC, the tie-breaker goes to record against all tied teams and then to winning percentage against ranked conference teams, beginning with the top of the conference and working down the standings. Â
Scouting The EaglesÂ
The last meeting between the teams was the first conference game of the season. Since then, EMU has gone 5-10 within the MAC, including wins over Western Michigan and Ball State in their last two games. Following the wins, EMU's Emoni Bates was named a Co-Player of the Week for the MAC. Bates finished the week averaging 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. On the season, Bates is averaging 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game with Tyson Acuff averaging 14.0 points and Noah Farrakhan at 12.5.Â
Curtis Filling The Stat SheetÂ
Over the course of the season, Samari Curtis has recorded 113 assists and 92 rebounds, leading the team in assists and fifth in rebounds. If Curtis can reach 100 rebounds on the season, he would be the first Falcon to have 100+ assists and rebounds in a season since Justin Turner had 109 assists and 107 rebounds in 2020-21. Curtis' 113 assists are also the most by a Falcon since Ismail Ali totaled 117 during the 2016-17 campaign.Â
Protecting The PaintÂ
During conference play, the Falcons are one of two teams with two players in the top six in the conference for blocks per game. Sam Towns is currently third in the MAC, averaging 1.1 blocks per game. Rashaun Agee is close behind, coming in sixth, averaging a block per game with 15 in 15 MAC games played this season. As a team, Bowling Green has recorded 48 blocks against MAC opponents.Â
Mills Just Misses First Double-Double
Brenton Mills nearly missed a double-double the last time out, finishing with nine points and a career-high nine rebounds. Over the last three games, Mills is averaging 9.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game to fill the stat sheet. This season, Mills has topped game stat sheets for rebounds three times and steals twice for the Falcons.Â
Metheny Nearing Record Book StatusÂ
Kaden Metheny is just one three-pointer away from adding his name to the BGSU Men's Basketball record book. Metheny has a team-high 65 triples this season, setting a new career-high for his time as a Falcon. Currently, Trey Diggs is 10th in program history for three-pointers in a single season with 66. Metheny enters Tuesday's game needing one to tie and two to pass Diggs for 10th. Brian Moten is currently ninth with 69. Metheny is averaging 2.5 triples a game with two games remaining in the regular season, putting him on pace to finish the regular season with 70.
Curtis Eyeing Program RecordÂ
Samari Curtis is currently 19th in the nation, and third in the MAC, for free throw percentage with a mark of 88.8%, going 103-of-116 from the line. Curtis has improved his percentage at the line by 21.7 percentage points from a year ago. The current program record for a single season is 88.4% by Clinton Venable during the 1989-90 season.Â
