Gage Schenk and Zaresha Neal Receive MAC Medal of Excellence

CLEVELAND – Twenty-four Mid-American Conference (MAC) student-athletes have been selected for the 2023 MAC Medal of Excellence Award, including Bowling Green's Gage Schenk and Zaresha Neal. Schenk is member of the baseball team and a native of Wapakoneta, Ohio. He maintains a 4.00 GPA while obtaining his Master of Accountancy degree. The senior currently leads the Falcons with 58 strikeouts this season. Entering this weekend's series against Toledo, he ranks fifth all-time in program history with 186 strikeouts. Neal is a member of the track and field team and a native of Findlay, Ohio. She also maintains a 4.00 GPA while obtaining her Master of Business Administration degree. She was named first-team All-MAC during the indoor season after winning the shot put. She earned the same honor during the outdoor season, winning the shot put and discus at the MAC Championship. The senior has five career MAC titles. At the 2022-23 Ziggy Awards, Schenk and Neal were the recipients of the Falcon Medal of Honor.
The Medal of Excellence is an award presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 12 Conference member institutions. To be honored with the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes had to participate on the varsity level in a conference sponsored sport and shown evidence of academic success with a minimum 3.50 accumulative grade-point average, exhibited athletics excellence, leadership and service. Selection of the recipients was made by each MAC institution.
