BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – As part of continued efforts to enhance the fan experience at Falcon football games, Bowling Green State University Athletics has announced that the Falcon Marching Band will move to a new seating location inside Doyt Perry Stadium beginning with the Fall 2026 football season.
The Falcon Marching Band will relocate from its current position in Sections 20L and 20U to the northwest corner of the stadium in Sections 19L and 19U.
The move follows extensive discussions between the BGSU Athletics Department and the Falcon Marching Band on ways to support the program’s continued growth while creating new opportunities for fan and student engagement during home games.
The new location is designed to enhance the overall fan experience by directing the band’s sound toward the east side of the stadium, where the Falcons’ home sideline is located. The change will allow fans to hear the band and participate in fan-directed cheers throughout the game more clearly. During halftime performances, the band will continue to face the east sideline.

The Falcon Marching Band remains one of the University’s most cherished traditions, playing a vital role in the game-day atmosphere before, during, and after each contest. BGSU Athletics will continue to collaborate with the band to develop innovative opportunities to showcase its performances and strengthen its connection with Falcon fans.
“The new location of the Falcon Marching Band will provide a better fan experience for those on the east side (home side) and will allow us to more easily interact with the BG fans on the west side,” said Jon Waters, Director of the Falcon Marching Band and Athletic Bands. “The visiting teams will hear ‘Ay Ziggy Zoomba’ loud and clear too.”
“The Falcon Marching Band is a critical part of our game-day experience,” said Derek van der Merwe, Vice President for Athletics Strategy and Director of Athletics. “As the band has grown, we need to find innovative ways to integrate them into the energy and fan experience of the game. Jon Waters is a leader in creativity and innovation, and we are fortunate to have him partner with us to create new ways to engage our fans and students.”
Current season ticket holders in the affected sections will have the opportunity to renew their current seats or relocate to other available seating areas. Additional information will be shared directly with ticket holders by the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office.
