Lauren Ashman is entering her third year as Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator. Ashman serves as sport supervisor for six teams including women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, volleyball and gymnastics. Additionally, she provides administrative leadership to Compliance, Student-Athlete Services, Strength and Conditioning and Sports Medicine. In this role, Ashman is also responsible for monitoring Title IX, diversity and inclusion efforts for the department and is a member of the Athletics Executive Staff.
She serves as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator on the campus of BGSU and is the departmental liaison with the Office of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Office. Ashman serves on various institutional committees including CARE Team, BGSU’s Task Force on Sexual Assault, the President’s Advisory Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics, the President’s Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, Changing Campus Culture Committee, and the President’s Advisory Committee on Health, Wellness and Insurance.
Ashman represents BGSU through several Mid-American Conference initiatives including the Council of Senior Administrators and Joint Council. Additionally, she serves on the Women’s Basketball and Volleyball Subcommittee, Olympic Sport Officiating Subcommittee, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group and the Student-Athlete Well Being Committee. Ashman will begin a two-year period of service as Chair of the MAC Infractions Committee beginning in September 2017. She also serves as the senior administrative liaison for the sport of men’s soccer.
Ashman is engaged at the national level as she was recently appointed to the Division I Women’s Soccer Committee for a five-year term with her service beginning in September 2017. She is also a member of NACDA and has served as a professional mentor for Women Leaders in College Sports (WLCS). She is also a graduate of the WLSC Institute for Administrative Advancement.
Prior to BGSU, Ashman served as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services for two years at Ohio University. Prior to her time at Ohio, Ashman spent just over two years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance at Coastal Carolina University. Her most recent stint at Coastal Carolina marked the second time she had worked with the Chanticleers' Athletics Department. Her first stop began in June of 2004 as Compliance Intern before being elevated to Assistant Compliance Coordinator, a role she held until July of 2006.
Between her stops at Coastal Carolina, Ashman spent four years working at Hofstra University, first as the institution's Assistant Director of Compliance before being promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance.
Ashman, a Latrobe, Pennsylvania native, is a 2004 graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Sport Management. She was recognized in April 2017 as the Slippery Rock University Sport Management Alumnus of the Year on the program’s 40th anniversary.
