Kenneth Russell came to Bowling Green in 1953, from Fostoria, Ohio. He was a standout tackle on the freshman football team, and moved into a starting role his first college game. He scored a touchdown with a long return of an intercepted pass. Russell held down the tackle position for Doyt Perry the next two seasons. He was named to the All-Mid American Conference team in 1955 and 1956, helping the Falcons gain their first MAC championship, in 1956.
Russell was also BGSU's first MAC wrestling champion, winning the heavyweight crown in 1957.
He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and was an offensive tackle for three years, before a leg injury cut his career short.
Kenneth Russell was inducted to the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1967.
