Recap | Final Stats | Notes
on the last play...
"We called that play in the timeout. Basically, it was similar to what we had been running... a little baseline screening action. Steven came off a ball-screen, reversed it to Cory Eyink and John Reimold set the greatest pick I've ever seen and the shot was wide open. Cory Eyink delivered it and it was there."
"Anytime we get Anderson Arena packed, it is really special."
Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"As the kids say, my bad. I should've called a timeout. I didn't want to call a timeout because I thought we could get the ball to the basket, I thought we could get it up. I probably should've told them when they took their timeout with 14 seconds, I probably should've told my team that. I didn't do it. I take full responsibility . You don't ever want to end the game without getting a shot off..."
on playing on the road in the MAC...
"It is extra tough this year because you have so many good teams."
"We needed to be better on defense. We weren't and they got too good of a look for us. Reimold, we did a pretty good job on. Almanson, I think, did a job on us. He didn't get but 16 points but in a game like this, 16 points is gold. He's got a great touch."
"I thought our kids competed. Boy, we've lost two tough games but what is new around our league?"
BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"Where do I start...I just thought that was a heck of a basketball game. ...I think every game but two has come down to the last play of the game and that is just the way it is. I just think, as everybody does, that Charlie Coles does a wonderful job. The key to this game quite frankly was at the end of the first half when Steven Wright made three or four really good plays to enable us to get it within eight. If it gets to 13 or beyond, I don't think we win the basketball game."
"As we went in the second half, I thought we defended very well throughout the half, starting with the first possession and then Josh, what can you say, did what Josh has been doing all year, making big shots and big plays."
"I'm so proud of these guys and how they battle and how they help each other, lean on each other and there were a few times I thought the three's they hit were going to give us a knockout... We had the ball basically last and Josh made a big shot."
"Miami talked about how much they trust each other and I think our team trusts each other. I think Reimold and Almanson trust that guys will get them the basketball and I think guys trust those two and Steven that they'll do something good with it."
"Steven Wright was phenomenal, particularly at the end of the first half."
What does this win mean?
"It means you're still alive for everything you want. Going into the last week of the season, that is always the objective. If you want to win the MAC outright, you're alive for it. If you want a first round bye, you're alive for it. If you want to get a home-court first round game, you're alive for it. Anything you want, quite frankly, you're alive for it and that really is what it means."
"I think it was two tough teams playing each other and we happened to make a shot."
On fixing the backboard after it shattered...
"Jim Elsasser and Andy Jones just did a phenomenal job."
