Bowling Green State University Athletics

Fans Invited To Offer Team Store Names
November 09, 2009 | General
Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Athletic Department and the BGSU Bookstore are seeking input for the name of the team store that will be part of the Stroh Center when it opens for the 2011-12 athletic year. Fans are invited to suggest a permanent name for the retail outlet.
“The team store within the Stroh Center provides a unique opportunity for the future,” Bowling Green Director of Athletics Greg Christopher said. “The Stroh Center will serve as a highly visible front porch to campus. Nearly 500,000 people a year will go through the building for various events, so a retail outlet helps to build an 'orange and brown' culture on campus.”
In a partnership between BGSU Intercollegiate Athletics and the BGSU Bookstore, the team store will feature an approximately 1,500 square-foot retail shop with the latest Falcon athletics gear in a highly-visible corner space in the Stroh Center. Open throughout the year and for special events, the store will also serve as the fulfillment center for the online team store.
Nominations are now being accepted for the team store name and will be taken until Dec. 10, 2009. At that time, the list will be narrowed and fans will be able to vote for their choice among a short list of finalists. To send in a nomination, click here: Team Store Name Nominations
The Stroh Center will be the new home of the volleyball and basketball programs and is set to open in time for the 2011-12 season. Kerm and Mary Lu Stroh announced the largest single private gift in BGSU history on March 1, 2008, an $8 million donation in which $7.7 million was earmarked for the new Convocation Center. Groundbreaking took place on Sept. 3, 2009 and the facility is currently under construction along Wooster Avenue in Bowling Green.
