Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green's Stroh Center hit another milestone today as the first piece of steel arrived and was put in place at the construction site. Work on the new arena began in September of 2009 and will continue through 2010. The facility is expected to be completed in mid-2011.
The Stroh Center will be the new home of the volleyball and basketball programs and is set to open in time for the 2011-12 season. Kerm and Mary Lu Stroh announced the largest single private gift in BGSU history on March 1, 2008, an $8 million donation in which $7.7 million was earmarked for the new Convocation Center. Groundbreaking took place on Sept. 3, 2009 and the facility is currently under construction along Wooster Avenue in Bowling Green.
