On Tuesday, the Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced twelve student-athlete candidates for the 2010 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Among the twelve nominations is the captain of the Bowling Green Falcons, senior defenseman Kyle Page.
This is the third consecutive time Page has been nominated for the award and has twice been named to the CCHA All-Academic First Team (2007-08, 2008-09).
Page set new career highs in assists (14) and (17) points this season. All three of his goals on the year were scored on the power play and his 71 blocked shots in 2009-10 also set a new career mark. As as a freshman, Page was named to the 2006-07 CCHA All-Rookie Honorable Mention team. He has also been honored with the BGSU Jim Ruehl Award three seasons in a row, recognizing the team's best defensive player.
The senior is a sport management major and has a 3.657 cumulative GPA, the highest of any BGSU upperclassman.
The CCHA Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be chosen from the group of nominees with the winner announced at the 2010 CCHA Awards, presented by RBC Financial Group, on Thursday, March 18. The 2010 CCHA Awards will be held on Thursday, March 18 at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The event is open to the public and tickets are $15.
