Falcons Finish Third at BGSU Opener

FINAL RESULTS
The Bowling Green State University track and field team finished third at the BGSU Opener on Saturday afternoon with 70.33 points. The seven team meet was held inside Perry Fieldhouse.
Western Michigan won the meet with 151.67 points, followed by Miami (122), BGSU (70.33), Toledo (62), Ball State (55), Wright State (23) and IPFW (9).
Individually the Falcons had four first-place finishes led by Jeanette Pettigrew, who won the 60 and 200 meter dash. The junior finished the 60 and 200-meter races with times of 7.50 and 24.84. She edged out Miami's Diona Graves in the 200-meters by .007 seconds.
Abby Koch narrowly won the 3000 meters, but smashed her previous-best by 20 seconds, winning the event with a time of 10:06.00.
BGSU's final top finish was from Ashley Harris in the weight throw. Harris' mark of 16.77 meters, dominated the event. Her nearest competitor finished with a distance of 15.99 meters. Harris added a second-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 13.81 meters.
The Falcons will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 21) in the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
