Carpenter Continues
Sophomore captain Ryan Carpenter led the Falcons in scoring last season, recording 30 points in 2011-12. He continues on pace this year, with three points in three games for a share of the team lead. Carpenter's two-point output Friday night marked his first multi-point game since March 11, 2012, in the Falcons' series-clinching 4-3 OT win against Ferris State.
Mingo On Fire
Sophomore Dajon Mingo has also started the year on fire, recording points (1G and 2A) in the first three games to start the season. Mingo is the first non-returning player (Mingo sat out last season) to start the year with points in back-to-back-to-back games since Ryan Carpenter did it last season against UConn and Alabama-Huntsville. Carpenter opened last season with two points in back-to-back games, before recording goals in back-to-back games against Alabama-Huntsville for a four-game point streak to start the season.
Season Firsts
Several Falcons recorded their first points of the year Friday night against Union, including assists from defensemen Connor Kucera and Mike Sullivan. Amazingly, Kucera and Sullivan each recorded their first point of the season in the same game last year also. Both recorded an assist on Nov. 19, in the Falcons' 4-4 tie against Miami on the road. The Falcons would go on to win a CCHA shootout.
Welcome Williamson
Junior Bryce Williamson also recorded an assist in the Falcons' 5-3 loss to Union Friday night, giving him a point in his first game of the season after sitting out against Niagara two weeks ago. That marks two seasons in a row that Williamson has recorded a point in his first game of the year. Williamson opened 2011-12 with goals in back-to-back games against UConn.
Williamson's Helper
Williamson finished last season with nine goals and seven assists, ranking fourth on the team with 16 points. Williamson did not record his first assist last season until Nov.11, in the Falcons' 4-1 win against Canisius.
Introducing Mark Cooper
Freshman Mark Cooper scored the Falcon's third goal in their 5-3 loss to Union Friday night, marking his first career point for the Orange and Brown. Cooper is the first member of the freshman class to record a point this season. Cooper's goal came on his first collegiate shot.
Five Against
Union's five goal output against Bowling Green Friday night marked the first time the Falcons have allowed five goals or more since March 10 of last season. The Falcons allowed seven goals to Ferris State in the second game of their second round playoff series, breaking a four game streak in which the Falcons had held opponents to four goals or less.
