Reuland, a native of Oswego, Ill. (Rosary H.S.), had a perfect 6-0 record in the Falcons' three matches in a five-day span. She won at both singles and doubles as BGSU lost a 5-2 decision on the road against three-time defending MAC regular-season champion and league-leading Miami Friday afternoon (April 6), in a match that was much closer than the final score indicated. Reuland also won twice in BGSU's 6-1 victory at Ball State the following day (April 7). And, she did not lose a single game in her singles and doubles wins against Valparaiso Tuesday afternoon (April 10) at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
At Miami, Reuland teamed up with fellow sophomore Nikki Chiricosta for an 8-3 doubles win at the top flight, then defeated MU's Christiana Raymond in three sets at the third singles flight. At Ball State, Reuland and Chiricosta won an 8-1 decision at the number-one doubles flight, and Reuland moved up to the second flight in singles and topped the Cardinals' Kristel Sanders by a 6-2, 6-2 result. Then, Reuland was perfect in 20 total games against Valparaiso, combining with Chiricosta for an 8-0 win in doubles and posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Kaitlyn Hamel at the second singles flight.
On the season, Reuland is 21-8 in singles play and 22-7 in doubles. With a 43-15 overall record this season, she leads the Falcons in singles wins, doubles victories and overall wins.
Reuland has topped her win total for all of last year (40-21), and her 2011-12 total of 43 combined wins ranks among the top-15 in school history, as does her total of 22 doubles victories. Just a sophomore, she is only nine wins away from moving into the BGSU top-25 on the career overall wins list, with 83 victories as a Falcon to date.
In the classroom, Reuland has a 3.93 cumulative grade-point average as an exercise science major. She shares this week's MAC S-A-O-W award with Toledo track and field athlete Emma Kertesz.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
Reuland and the Falcons (8-7, 3-2 MAC) conclude a two-match homestand on Friday afternoon (April 13), hosting Western Michigan University in the final home contest of the 2011-12 season. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Keefe Courts.
