Story No. 8 From 2011-12: Jennifer Roos Named Women's Basketball Coach
June 21, 2012 | Women's Basketball
Throughout the summer, the Bowling Green Athletics Department will be counting down the top 10 stories of the 2011-12 school year, as voted on by members of the Athletics Department administration and the Athletics Communications Department. We will release the list one at a time throughout the summer, until the No. 1 moment of 2011-12 is revealed on Wednesday, Aug. 1 -- the day before BGSU football camp opens.
No program at Bowling Green has been more successful over the past decade than the women's basketball program. When head coach Curt Miller announced that he was leaving to take over the Indiana program, there was already a top candidate from within. While the program deserved a full national search for a new head coach, Jennifer Roos, who served on the staff at BGSU for 11 years, stood out.
On April 16, BGSU Athletics Director Greg Christopher announced that Roos would be the next head coach. Roos takes over a program that has won a MAC Championship for each of the past eight years. Fans can read the full release HERE or view the press conference announcing Roos' hiring HERE.
