February 16, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Cleveland, Ohio – Senior Richaun Holmes was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Basketball East Division Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday by the league office. This marks the fourth MAC weekly honor of the season for the 6-8 forward from Lockport, Illinois.
Holmes posted double digit points in both games last week to give him 12 straight games with double figures and help the Falcons go 2-0 overall. Holmes scored 12 points, pulled down six rebounds and turned away four shots in a 65-49 home win over Western Michigan on Wednesday night, Feb. 10. He followed that up with a game-high 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks in the Falcons' 79-65 road win at Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 14.
Holmes, who has now posted four 20-point games this season, leads the Falcons in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and blocked shots.
Overall for the week, the forward averaged 16.0 points on 61.9 percent shooting overall, including going a percent 2-for-2 behind the three-point line and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and increased his MAC leading blocked shots total to 61 on the season.
