Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference office announced the 2015-16 men's basketball conference schedule today, highlighted by 12 MAC Wildcard games which will be aired by ESPN and CBS Sports Network.
Of the Falcons' 18 MAC contests on the season, the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will host nine conference games in the Stroh Center which includes bouts versus Akron, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami and Ohio of the East Division and cross-divisional home contests versus Central Michigan, Ball State, Western Michigan and Toledo.
"The MAC schedule is always a tough one," commented head coach Michael Huger. "Each game is going to be very competitive, home or away. Our team looks forward to the challenge this year."
Season tickets for the 2015-16 Bowling Green State University men's basketball season are on sale now! BGSU will tip-off the 2015-16 MAC slate at home versus Miami on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and will then turn around to host the defending regular season MAC Champions in Central Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons will then hit the road for the first time in the 2016 calendar year with back-to-back games at Ohio on Tuesday, Jan. 12, and at Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Coach Huger's squad then returns home for two pivotal match ups against Toledo in the Battle of I-75 on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and versus Kent State on Saturday, Jan. 23, before heading to the state of Michigan for two road contests at Western Michigan on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and at Central Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 30.
Following a home game versus Ball State on Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Falcons will hit the road to face off with the Miami RedHawks on Saturday, Feb. 6, before returning to BG and the Stroh Center to host Akron on Tuesday, Feb. 9, and Western Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 13.
After a week on the road with games at Northern Illinois on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and at Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 20, the Falcons will wrap up the regular season conference slate with four straight games against the MAC East.
Bowling Green will host Ohio on Tuesday, Feb. 23, prior to back-to-back road games at Akron on Saturday, Feb. 27, and at Kent State on Tuesday, Mar. 1.
The Falcons will then host Buffalo in the regular season finale on Friday, Mar. 4, at the Stroh Center.
A number of Saturday home basketball games could potentially be selected by ESPN or CBS Sports Network to be televised on a Friday night throughout the season. All wildcard selections will be confirmed with the Mid-American Conference office 14-days in advance of the selected date. Two MAC basketball games will be televised on Friday, Jan. 8, Friday, Feb. 19 and Friday, Mar. 4. Game times will be confirmed at a later date.Â
2015-16 MAC Schedule Breakdown
Miami RedHawks – Jan. 6 (Home), Feb. 6 (Away)
* Home (35-29) - The Falcons will open up with the Miami RedHawks at home on Wednesday, Jan. 6. BGSU and Miami split the series last year with both teams winning on the other team's home floor. In fact, the RedHawks have a three-game winning streak over the Falcons at the Stroh Center.
* Road (16-46) - Bowling Green snapped a four-game losing streak to Miami with a 62-57 road win at Millett Hall on Feb. 28, 2015. Of the Falcons' last four wins over the RedHawks, two have come on the road in Oxford, Ohio.
* Overall, the Falcons are 53-81 versus Miami all-time and currently have a one-game winning streak over the RedHawks.

Central Michigan – Jan. 9 (Home), Jan. 30 (Away)
• Home (23-13) – BGSU's first West Divisional opponent on the season will be the Central Michigan Chippewas, who won the 2014-15 regular season MAC title. The Falcons last played Central Michigan at home in 2013-14, as BGSU came away with a 67-57 home MAC win on Jan. 15, 2014. BGSU has won two of its last three home contests versus the Chippewas with the lone loss coming in the first round of the 2012 MAC Championship Tournament.
• Road (16-19) – Last season, the Falcons and the Chippewas played an exciting overtime contest in Mount Pleasant, Mich., with BGSU escaping McGuirk Arena with a 76-74 overtime win. The game saw eight ties and eight lead changes, as a total of seven different players notched double digit points. The win handed CMU its first home loss of the season. BGSU has won eight of its last 13 road games at Central Michigan dating back to 1995.
• Overall, the Falcons are 39-33 all-time versus CMU and will enter the 2015-16 season on a two-game winning streak over the Chippewas.

Ohio – Jan. 12 (Road), Feb. 23 (Home)
• Home (43-22) – BGSU defeated the Bobcats 69-54 at home last season on Jan. 10, 2015 to extend its winning streak to four straight games at the time and give the Falcons their first home conference win of the 2014-15 season. The win snapped a two-game losing streak to the Bobcats at home after the Falcons had tallied five straight home wins over Ohio from 2008-12.
• Road (27-40) – The Falcons led from start to finish in a 76-65 road win at Ohio last season on Feb. 24, 2015. In the win, BGSU's Richaun Holmes eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark, becoming only the 42nd player in BGSU men's basketball history to reach that milestone. The Falcons have won two straight contests over the Bobcats at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.
• Overall, BGSU is 75-63 all-time versus Ohio, which includes a regular season series sweep of the Bobcats last season.

Eastern Michigan – Jan. 16 (Away)
• Road (17-22) – The Falcons will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. on Saturday, Jan. 16, for their lone match up with the Eastern Michigan Eagles on the season. BGSU has dropped two straight at Eastern Michigan with losses coming in 2013-14 and 2011-12. The last time the Falcons beat Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti was a 64-61 win on Jan. 27, 2010.
• Overall, BGSU is 47-42 all-time versus the Eagles. Last season, the Falcons defeated Eastern Michigan 74-58 at home on Jan. 21, 2015. However, the Eagles abruptly ended the Falcons' run in the 2015 MAC Championship Tournament by defeating the Orange and Brown 73-67 in the quarterfinals of the conference championship tournament at Quicken Loans Arena on Mar. 11, 2015.

Toledo – Jan. 19 (Home)
• Home (48-26) – The Battle of I-75 will take place in Bowling Green, Ohio this season, as the Falcons will host the Rockets on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Stroh Center. The Falcons and Rockets last met in the Stroh Center on Feb. 20, 2014, with Toledo holding on for a 60-58 win in front of 3,182 fans. The Falcons last win over the Rockets at home came back in 2012, as the Orange and Brown defeated its MAC West Divisional foe 66-63 on Feb. 11, 2012.
• Overall, the Falcons are 79-87 versus the Rockets in men's basketball action and have lost four straight in the rivalry series.

Kent State – Jan. 23 (Home), Mar. 1 (Away)
• Home (50-22) – The Falcons will look to avenge a one-point loss to Kent State at home on Senior Night last year on Mar. 3, 2015. BGSU led for most of the contest, but saw a second half three-point onslaught by the Golden Flashes prove to be just enough to hold off the Falcons for an 81-80 road win. BGSU had won three straight versus Kent State at home heading into last year's contest and is 3-1 all-time versus the Golden Flashes in the Stroh Center.
• Road (32-42) – Bowling Green used a strong second half comeback effort to edge Kent State 66-64 at the M.A.C. last year in the two teams' conference opener on Jan. 7, 2015. In fact, the last two contests between the Falcons and the Golden Flashes at the M.A.C. in Kent, Ohio has come down to the final seconds of the contest and has been decided by a total of just three points.
• Overall, the Falcons hold an 84-70 lead over Kent State in the all-time series, as the two teams have split the regular season series in each of the last four years.
Western Michigan – Jan. 26 (Away), Feb. 13 (Home)
• Home (41-15) – The Orange and Brown have dominated the Broncos of Western Michigan at home in the two teams' history, winning a total of 41 times overall at home and three of the last four meetings in Bowling Green, Ohio. BGSU has won each of its last two home bouts over the Broncos, including a 65-49 home win last year on Feb. 10, 2015.
• Road (27-30) – BGSU will put is current four-game winning streak over the Broncos on the line at WMU on Tuesday, Jan. 26, in Kalamazoo, Mich. The Falcons have won two straight on the Broncos home court with a 72-48 road win in 2012 and a 69-64 road win in 2014.
• Overall, the Falcons are 69-46 versus Western Michigan in the all-time series, which includes a current four-game winning streak over the Broncos dating back to the 2011-12 season.

Ball State – Feb. 2 (Home)
• Home (29-10) – BGSU will host Ball State on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Stroh Center. The Falcons defeated the Cardinals at home twice last season, a 58-46 win on Jan. 17, 2015 in the regular season and an 88-75 home win on Mar. 9, 2015 in the first round of the 2015 MAC Championship Tournament. The 88 points is the most scored by a Falcons' team in a single game in the Stroh Center's four-year history. The Orange and Brown have won eight straight home contests versus Ball State dating back to the 2004-05 season.
• Overall, the Orange and Brown are 46-34 all-time versus Ball State. The Falcons are on a seven-game winning streak over the Cardinals and have won 12 of the last 14 meetings between the two teams.

Akron – Feb. 9 (Home), Feb. 27 (Away)
• Home (13-13) – The Falcons will host the Akron Zips at home on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Stroh Center, where the Zips escaped with a 69-68 win over BGSU last year on Jan. 31, 2015. In fact, the Falcons have lost each of its last two home games against Akron by a combined three points. The Orange and Brown will be looking for its first-ever win over the Zips at the Stroh Center in 2015-16 to give BGSU at least one win over every MAC foe at the Stroh in the building's young history. The Falcons last home win over the Zips came back on Jan. 14, 2004.
• Road (10-17) – The Falcons last win over the Zips was a 50-46 road win at Akron, Ohio on Mar. 1, 2009. Since that win, BGSU has dropped six straight road contests to the Zips.
• Overall, the Orange and Brown are 24-32 versus the Zips all-time. However, Akron has won 13 straight over the Falcons heading into the 2015-16 season.

Northern Illinois – Feb. 16 (Away)
• Road(10-15) – BGSU will hit the road to face Northern Illinois on Tuesday, Feb. 16, for the two teams' lone meeting this year. The Falcons swept NIU last season, which included a 69-65 road win in DeKalb, Ill. on Feb. 7, 2015. Bowling Green has won four of its last five games on the road at Northern Illinois dating back to 2008-09 with the lone loss coming in the first round of the 2014 MAC Championship Tournament on Mar. 10, 2014.
• Overall, Bowling Green is 32-27 all-time versus the Huskies and have posted two straight wins over NIU. In fact, BGSU has won nine of the last 11 meetings versus the Huskies on the hardwood.

Buffalo – Feb. 20 (Away), Mar. 4 (Home)
• Home (12-4) – In what has developed into a MAC East rivalry over the last few years, the Falcons will host Buffalo in the regular season finale on Friday, Mar. 4. The Bulls defeated BGSU 68-56 last year at the Stroh Center on Feb. 21, 2015. However, the last time that the Orange and Brown hosted Buffalo at home in the regular season finale, the Falcons beat the Bulls 76-65 in March of 2013.
• Road (6-9) – The Falcons have lost four straight on the road to the Bulls, including a 77-75 loss last season in the regular season finale on Mar. 6, 2015. Buffalo, who went on to claim a share of the MAC East title with the home win over BGSU on its Senior Night, swept the regular season series over the Falcons last year.
• Overall, the Falcons lead the series with Buffalo 18-13, yet the Bulls have won three straight over the Falcons heading into the 2015-16 campaign. BGSU opened up the series with nine straight wins over the Bulls from 1999-2002.
