"We are really happy with the class we are bringing in. We have been able to add quality, strength and depth in all areas. Plus every person coming in is going to contribute greatly to our already great team chemistry and academic profile," said Fannon.
The bulk of this year's signees hail from the local area. The team has signed two players from Ohio and five from Michigan. However, the team also welcomes a player from Colorado. In addition, Fannon has introduced more international strength to the team with two players from Canada and another from England. BGSU will now have eight players from outside the United States. This class will join a group of 22 returning student-athletes, 13 of whom averaged at least 20 minutes per game in 2017, as well as sophomore transfer Nikki Cox.Â
Fannon aggressively pursued help at all positions but focused heavily on midfielder, as the class includes six at that position. The team also signed two forwards, two defenders, and a goalkeeper who will add further competition to an already deep unit.
Biographical information about each of the 11 signees is listed below. The BGSU women's soccer team completed its best season in nearly a decade under the first-year guidance of Fannon. The team went 13-7-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the MAC during the regular season, then advanced to the MAC Championship before falling to Toledo in overtime. Forward Skylar Fleak was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year, and Fannon was named MAC Coach of the Year.Â
