
Ohio Evens Weekend Series With Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team was defeated by Ohio University, 11-3, Saturday (March 24) afternoon at Steller Field. With the win, Ohio evens the weekend series with the Falcons at one win apiece.
The Falcons drop to 5-17 (1-1 MAC) with the loss, while Ohio improves to 12-9 (1-1 MAC) with the victory. The series rubber match will take place tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
"I didn't think we played well in any phase today," said head coach Danny Schmitz. "Ohio was really prepared today and played a good game. But we still have a chance to win the series tomorrow. I expect us to come out with a lot of energy tomorrow."
Bowling Green took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as Randy Righter crushed a double off the fence in left-center. However, Ohio countered with three runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to break the game open.
Jake Wilson notched an RBI single in the fifth, prior to OU posting two-run frames in the sixth and ninth. Evan Brown notched his first-career hit in the ninth, driving in a run in the process.

• Head Coach Danny Schmitz is still one win shy of 700 for his career.
• Bowling Green's hits were registered by Jake Wilson, Evan Brown, Joe McGuinness, Randy Righter, Jeff Scott, Nick Piazza, Riley Minorik and R.J. Williams.
