Fort Wayne, Indiana – The BGSU Men's Golf team completed its spring 2018 season with the conclusion of the 2018 MAC Championships this Sunday. The tournament included nine MAC schools, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and Toledo. The tournament was hosted by Ball State at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club. The Falcons competed in four 72 par rounds played over three days in Fort Wayne, Indiana. BG finished the weekend with a total card of 1246, +94 (306, 325, 306, 309).

"We had another pretty good day today, but didn't get quite enough out of it to move up the board. The gap was too big after our second round. There is a lot of work to be done to be a contender in this event, but it is exciting to have the opportunity with a large group of returning players next season."

TEAM STANDINGS

Kent State took the 2018 MAC Championships title with +44 on the weekend.
After leading through the first three rounds, host Ball State dropped under Kent State by three strokes.
The Falcons topped the Ohio Bobcats by 30 strokes after four rounds.
BG ended only one stroke behind seventh place finisher Eastern Michigan.
Only seven strokes separated NIU, Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and Bowling Green.

T25 – Mitchell Kontak – 315, +27 (77, 79, 78, 81)
33 – Trey Walker – 318, +30 (83, 81, 77, 77)
T34 – Nick Hofland – 319, +31 (84, 85, 77, 73)
40 – Pablo Heredia Iglesias – 325, +37 (72, 87, 79, 87)

INDIVIDUAL STANDOUTS

Vie at the top of the leaderboard throughout the tournament finished tied for 14^th overall with a team leading eight birdies.
Hofland shot +1 in the final round landing him tied for 34^th place overall, nine places above his third round finish.
Both Vie and Hofland shot two birdies in round four.
Iglesias holds the team low on the weekend with an even 72 in round one.
Senior Kontak wrapped up his collegiate career shooting +27 overall in his final tournament.
