Barnes, Domek Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Freddie Barnes and volleyball player Corey Domek.
Male Athlete of the Week
Freddie Barnes, a senior football player from Chicago Heights, Ill., caught eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown as Bowling Green defeated Buffalo 30-29 in front of a national audience on ESPN2. His final catch was an 18-yard touchdown reception with 39 seconds left that put the Falcons on top for good. Barnes leads the country in receptions (107), yards (1,176), receptions per game (11.9) and yards per game (130.7).
Female Athlete of the Week
Corey Domek, a senior from Naperville, Ill., posted 31 kills, 17 digs, and five aces in two matches this week, helping the Falcons to a split, including a dramatic five-set win over Northern Illinois. In the win over Northern Illinois, Bowling Green came back from two sets down, including a 25-5 loss in the second, to win the match. Domek had a team-high 14 kills and added seven digs and three aces. She sparked the team with five kills in the momentum-turning third set and then, with the match on the line, she had two aces, two kills, and three digs in the deciding fifth set. In Thursday's four-set loss to Miami, Domek had a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs, adding two service aces.
