INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - At the midway point of the 2009 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships the Bowling Green State University sits is sixth-place after 36 holes of action on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons, who carded a score of 604, opened with a 299 in round one and finished round two with a score of 305.
Kent State leads the tournament with a score of 574. They are followed by Eastern Michigan (580), Ohio (593), Miami (597), Toledo (600), Bowling Green (604), Northern Illinois (607), Ball State (609) and Akron (610).
The Falcons are led by Matt Schneider, who is tied for seventh with a score of 147. The junior opened with a 70 to lead the tournament after 18 holes of action. In round two Schneider fired a 77.
Drew Preston is tied for 11th after 36 holes with a score of 148, one shot behind Schneider. The freshman is having one of his best tournaments of the spring after carding a 73-75.
Fellow freshman Parker Hewit is not far off the pace of his classmate. Hewit fired a pair of 75's on day to sit in a tie for 21st.
Rounding out the Falcon scorers were John Powers and Bryan Mitchell, both tied for 44th with a score of 160. Powers shot 81-79, while Mitchell carded an 82-78.
Round three begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the Brickyard Crossing.
