The Bowling Green State University men's golf team shot a 292 on Friday, and now sit in seventh-place after 54 holes of action at the Mid-American Conference Championships, held at the Brickyard Crossing in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Falcons as a team have a 54 hole score of 896 (299-305-292) which places them seventh. Kent State continues to lead the field with a score of 845. They are followed by Eastern Michigan (870), Toledo (887), Ohio (890), Ball State (894), Miami (895), BGSU (896), Northern Illinois (898) and Akron (902).
Highlight of the day for the Orange and Brown was Matt Schnedier, who moved up to fourth overall with a 54-hole score of 214, after firing a 5-under 67 on Friday. Schneider, who is currently 2-under, trails only Kent State's trio of John Hahn (-11), Brett Cairns (-4) and Mackenzie Hughes (-4) for the overal tournament crown. In his 67 he recorded six birdies and one bogey.
If not for Schneider's outstanding play, Parker Hewit would have been the talk of the men's golf team. Hewit shot an even-par 72 on Friday with the help of three birdies in the last seven holes. Hewit currently sits in a tie for 15th with a score of 222.
Rounding out the Falcon scorers are Drew Preston, 227 (73-75-79, T-30th), Bryan Mitchell, 234 (82-78-74, 41st) and John Powers, 240 (81-79-80, 44th).
The fourth and final round will take place on Saturday morning.
