Scott Cashell is playing in the big time this week. The former Elida High School and Bowling Green golfer made the field for the PGA Tour Buick Open.
“Right now I'm getting ready to go to bed. I'm emotionally drained,” Cashell said Monday night by phone.
Cashell qualified in a Friday qualifier for the tournament in Grand Blanc, Michigan, which tees off Thursday. Television coverage begins at 3 p.m. on The Golf Channel.
He is a two-time Lima Junior Golf Association player of the year and 1996 Dr Pepper Tournament champion.
While he has tried his hand at other qualifiers and Nationwide Tour events, this is his first taste of PGA action. He should find out his pairings and tee times today.
“It's going to be what it is. It's my first time, so I'm sure it will be nerve wracking,” Cashell said. “I just have to stay within myself.
“I'm not saying I'm going to score well, but if I stay within myself the score will take care of itself.”
