Schneider Named MAC Golfer of the Week

Today, the Mid-American Conference announced that Bowling Green State University senior Matt Schneider has been selected as the first MAC Golfer of the Week for the 2009-10 season.
Schneider picks up the award for the fifth time in his career after winning the John Piper Intercollegiate for the second consecutive year with a five-under-par 211 (72-72-67). Schneider overcame a five shot deficit going into the final round of the tournament to win, and his victory helped Bowling Green take home top team honors.
Schneider was the MAC Golfer of the Week once during his sophomore season. Last year, he won the award twice during the fall and once during the spring. One of those awards came after Schneider won last year's John Piper Intercollegiate. He also was named Golfer of the Week after tying for ninth place at the Palmas Del Mar Classic and shared the honor with teammate John Powers after finishing second in the Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate.
Schneider will compete with his teammates in the 2009 Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday, September 21-22.
