Drew Preston Named MAC Golfer of the Week
September 23, 2009 | Men's Golf
This afternoon, the Mid-American Conference announced that Bowling Green State University sophomore Drew Preston was named the MAC Golfer of the Week.
Preston's award comes on the heels of his first tournament victory, as he took home top honors at the 2009 Earl Yestingsmeier Intercollegiate. His score of 209 (65-67-77) was one shy of the school record for 54 holes. His eight-under-par score of 132 after 36 holes set a school record and broke the previous record by four strokes. Preston's victory helped the Falcons win the tournament as a team. Bowling Green has now won the individual and team titles at both tournaments to start the 2009-10 season.
This is the second time Preston has been named MAC Golfer of the Week. His first honor came last season, after his first college tournament. To earn the award, Preston shot 218 (75-72-71) to tie for third place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate.
Preston and his Falcon teammates will take next week off before travelling to Cincinnati to take part in the 2009 Xavier Invitational. That tournament will take place on Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th.
