Cleveland, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference named Bowling Green State University sophomore transfer Charlie Olson as one of its tri-Golfers of the Week on Friday (Oct. 22).
In just his sixth tournament as a Falcon, Olson won the 2010 APSU Intercollegiate in Hopkinsville, Ky. on the second hole of a four-way playoff. Olson sank a birdie putt after hitting an approach shot to within a few feet of the pin.
By shooting a 204 for the tournament, Olson broke the BGSU record for a 54-hole score by four strokes. He also helped the team break the school record for composite score after 54 holes by 14 strokes. The team's score of 831 earned the Falcons a second place finish this week.
The win was Olson's second top-ten finish this season, and the Falcons earned their third top-three finish of the fall schedule.
Olson joins Mackenzie Hughes of Kent State and Austin Kelly of Miami as winners of this week's aware. Both Hughes and Kelly won medalist honors at their tournaments this week.
The APSU Intercollegiate concluded BGSU's fall schedule. The team will resume play in the spring with a schedule that will conclude with the Mid-American Conference Championships at the TPC at Riverbend course in Mason, Ohio from April 29th through May 1st.
