Fall Season Recap With Men's Golf
October 26, 2010 | Men's Golf
Earlier today (Oct. 26), head coach Garry Winger and sophomores Wes Gates and Charlie Olson of the Bowling Green State University men's golf team took a few minutes to discuss the 2010 season thus far and look forward to the resumption of play in the spring.
Overall, the team is on pace to break the school record for composite season scoring average. The Falcons have also set 18- and 54-hole BGSU scoring records. Bowling Green won the John Piper Intercollegiate, the team's annual home tournament, and earned top-3 finishes in three of their six tournaments.
Olson closed the season by setting the BGSU 54-hole individual scoring record at the APSU Intercollegiate. His 204 broke the old record of 208 and allowed Olson to play in a four-way playoff, which he won on the second playoff hole. It was his first career victory in six tournaments as a Falcon.
Gates has two top-ten finishes to his name thus far in 2010, and his 213 at the APSU Intercollegiate set a personal record. At the final tournament of the fall, he concluded play with a career-best single round of 69.
