Leady, Grunden Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners baseball pitcher Kevin Leady (becoming the first male to win it three weeks in a row) and golfer Susy Grunden.
Male Athlete of the Week
Kevin Leady, a senior from Luckey, Ohio, put together his third consecutive outstanding performance to lead the BGSU baseball team to a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon and a three-game sweep of rival Toledo. The senior gave up a two-out single in the first inning of the game, but through the next six innings, did not surrender a hit. Between the start of the second inning and the ninth, Leady retired 19-of-22 batters but never allowed a single runner past first base. After a fourth inning walk, he retired 11 straight batters before giving up only his second hit of the game in the eighth inning.
Female Athlete of the Week
Susy Grunden, a freshman from Krum, Texas, finished in a tie for fifth at the Falcon Invitational with a score of 156. The freshman opened with an 80 in nearly freezing temperatures and wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour and finished with a 76 on day two. It was her third top-10 finish this season. She now has a scoring average of 78.78, just .24 behind the all-time seasonal scoring average by Jenny Schnipke in 2003-04.
