Former Falcon Qualifies for Men’s U.S. Amateur

Matt Schneider, a former member of the Bowling Green State University men's golf team, has qualified for the United States Men's Amateur Golf Championship, set to begin on Aug. 23 at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
Schneider qualified after shooting the lowest two-round score (142) at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club in Golden Valley, Minn.
Up next for the former Falcon is a trip to University Place, Wash., for at least two rounds of action at Chambers Bay. After 36 holes the field is cut to 64 players, which are then seeded to compete in a single-elimination match-play tournament.
Schneider just recently graduated from BGSU this past spring, finishing with a scoring average of 74.43 through 132 rounds of action. Schneider was a two-time All-MAC performer, earning first-team hours as a junior and was named to the second-team his senior year. The Grand Rapids, Minn., native finished his career with three tournament wins, most in school history.
