Jorden, Bennet Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week
October 31, 2011 | General
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Kamar Jorden and swimmer Emily Bennet.
Male Athlete of the Week
Kamar Jorden, a senior from Darby, Pa., had 12 catches for 203 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' 27-15 loss to Kent State Saturday. Jorden had five grabs of over 20 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. His 12 catches are the 12th most in school history for a single game, while his 203 receiving yards are fourth in the BGSU record books.
Female Athlete of the Week
Emily Bennet, a junior from Seaforth, Australia, won all four of her individual events and helped the Falcons win two of four relays this weekend as BGSU competed in back-to-back meets against MAC opponents Friday and Saturday. She won the 50 free and the 100 free against defending MAC Champ Ohio and then won the 100 free and 200 free against Ball State. She also swam the opening legs as BGSU won the 400 relay against Ohio and 200 free relay against Ball State.
