Hewit, Berger Named Papa John's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Papa John's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's golfer Parker Hewit and softball player Paige Berger.
Male Athlete of the Week
Parker Hewit, a junior from Westfield, Ohio, earned a career-best third-place finish at the 2011 Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. On the par-72 Kampen course at Purdue University, Hewit shot a one-over-par 217 (71-75-71) for the tournament's 54 holes. Hewit led the Falcons to a third-place team finish in the tournament. He has shot 71 or better in four of his last five rounds and is tied for second on the team in scoring average (73.52).
Female Athlete of the Week
Paige Berger, a sophomore from Rootstown, Ohio, hit .438 with nine RBI in five games over the past week, leading the team to a sweep of Detroit. Berger went 7-for-16 with three extra base hits (two triples and a double) to slug .750. In a 14-0 win over Detroit to open the week, she went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs. Berger followed that up with a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI in the team's 8-3 victory for the sweep. She added two more hits and three RBI in the final game of the week against Western Michigan.
