BGSU goes 3-1-4 during March-April slate
The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team recently put the wraps on a successful spring schedule. The Falcons of head coach Eric Nichols went 3-1-4 during the spring.
The BGSU defense allowed only four goals in the equivalent of roughly six-and-a-half matches. The Falcons opened the spring schedule with a 1-0 win over Cleveland State. After a 3-1 loss to Dayton, the Brown and Orange participated in the Athletes in Action tournament in Xenia, Ohio, and did not allow a goal in 135 minutes of action.
In the AIA event, the Falcons sandwiched scoreless ties with Ohio State and Wright State around a 1-0 win over Cincinnati. Teams played a series of 45-minute matches in that tournament.
The Falcons returned home to post a 5-0 win in the team's Alumni Match, then played the Dayton Dutch Lions, a professional team that plays in the National Division of USL Pro, to a 1-1 draw. BG ended the spring with a scoreless tie vs. Notre Dame College.
"This was a fairly tough spring schedule and a great way to assess the progress we made over the winter," said Nichols. "All in all we are pleased with the results, but we certainly saw areas that we need to clean up before the fall season."
