Drew Preston Completes First Day At United States Amateur Championship

Drew Preston, a senior on the 2011-12 Bowling Green State University men's golf team, is competing this week in Erin, Wis. at the 2011 United States Amateur Championship. Preston competed in the first of two rounds of stroke play on Monday (Aug. 22).
Preston played today's round on the Blue Mound Golf and Country Club course (par 70). He sank two birdies and only four bogeys for a two-over-par total for the front nine holes and the last eight of the back nine holes. Unfortunately, Preston could only manage a triple-bogey on the 398-yard, par-four first hole (his tenth), and he ended the day with a 75 (five-over-par).
Preston currently resides in a tie for 124th place out of 315 entrants. He will play again tomorrow, this time on the Erin Hills course (par 72).
After tomorrow's round, the top 64 golfers continue to a match-play tournament.
