Armstrong scores for second-straight game; Baraldi, Hall earn all-tourney honors
Bowling Green State University men's soccer senior Colin Armstrong scored an early goal, but Lipscomb University equalized later in the first half, as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon (Sept. 18). The match, the final game in the Hyatt Place Brentwood Invitational, was held at E.S. Rose Park.

The double-overtime result leaves the Falcons with a record of 4-2-1 on the season. The Bisons are now 1-5-2.
Armstrong scored for the second consecutive match, heading home a ball from freshman Danny Baraldi just 4:50 into the opening half. Not long after, sophomore Sam Galloway hit the crossbar with a shot for the Brown and Orange. LU's Garret Pettis, however, knocked home a low cross in the 33rd minute to knot the score. The teams would battle through 77 more minutes of play without putting another ball past BGSU fifth-year senior goalkeeper Miguel Rosales or his LU counterpart, Brent McGee.
"This was probably a fair result," said Falcon head coach Eric Nichols. "We played very well for the first 20 or 25 minutes. We got the goal, we hit the crossbar, and we had a few more chances. We probably could have gotten one or two more goals during that time, but credit to Lipscomb. They hung in there, they grabbed hold of the game and, actually, from then on it was a fairly even game. A tie is probably a fair result for us today."
A pair of Falcons, Armstrong and Baraldi, were named to the all-tournament team.
Belmont, after beating IPFW by a 4-0 score in Sunday's opening match, won the tournament with a 2-0-0 record. LU went 0-0-2, including a 2-2 draw with IPFW on Friday (Sept. 16), while the Falcons and the Mastodons each had a record of 0-1-1 on the weekend.
BGSU returns to the Midwest for the next few matches, and the Falcons will make a short trip north for a Wednesday (Sept. 21) match against the University of Detroit Mercy. That contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Motor City.
