Parker Hewit Named MAC Golfer of the Week

On Wednesday afternoon (April 11), the Mid-American Conference named this week's recipients of the MAC Golfer of the Week awards. The men's honoree is senior Parker Hewit of Bowling Green State University.
Hewit tied for fourth last weekend at the 2012 Rutherford Intercollegiate, which was hosted by Penn State University. His 54-hole score was 228, and he began the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 76. On Sunday (April 8), he shot a 72 in the final round.
Hewit's heroics over the final 18 holes allowed BGSU to vault Indiana University of Pennsylvania and win the team championship with a composite 901 (303-297-301). The team victory was BGSU's first since last September's John Piper Intercollegiate. It was their first win away from Bowling Green since September of 2009.
Hewit now leads the Falcons in scoring with an average of 75.17 through 23 rounds. He has three top-ten finishes this season, including two in his last three events. His career total now stands at six.
This is BGSU's first MAC Golfer of the Week award since October of 2010. It is also the first of Hewit's career.
