The Bowling Green State University football team completed its first scrimmage of the fall on Saturday (Aug. 11) night inside Doyt Perry Stadium. Below are a few notes, along with video from head coach Dave Clawson, quarterback Matt Schilz and running back Anthon Samuel.
Notes
• Booboo Gates returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown.
• Freshman Will Watson intercepted the final pass of the scrimmage, returning it for a 34-yard touchdown.
• Jamel Martin scored the first touchdown of the night, running between the tackles on a four-yard score.
• Tyler Tate and Steve Stein were three-for-three on field goals and converted on every extra point between the two.
• Local product, Clay Rolf, scored on a six yard touchdown pass.
* Matt Johnson and Shaun Joplin hooked up on a 34-yard touchdown pass midway through the scrimmage.
